The intent of this letter is to serve as a strong endorsement for Suzie Riley. Like most dog owners, we tend to treat our pet like a family member. And why not? Our chocolate lab, Bella, brings us great joy and companionship. For that reason, we won’t let just anyone care for her and our home while we’re away.
Molly and I want someone we can count on and trust to take care of Bella when we leave town. Suzie fulfills that role perfectly. She adores animals, is skilled with pets, understands proper animal behavior, and is unequivocally trustworthy. She is a pro.

Suzie has been my “go to” whenever I needed to go on trips for a few years now. I used to put my dogs in Kennels, trying each one in the area, all the way up the price range, and every time I’d get two doggies home who were traumatized by the experience and would need a couple of weeks or more of work by me, and in some cases the vet (I have a very expensive doggie dentistry bill to show for one of these stays), to get them back to normal.
I have two rescues, who for sure have their share of baggage from their previous lives, the last thing I wanted to do was to put them through more stress, should I need to travel. I was seriously considering quitting my job so I wouldn’t need to leave them anymore, when a friend suggested getting a dog sitter to come and stay with them, instead of using kennels. It took a while to warm up to the idea of a stranger staying in my house with my “kids”, but when I spoke with Julie at August Animal Care, she took the time to listen to my unique situation and suggest a sitter who would be appropriate.
Suzie came out to my house to meet me and the dogs before the trip, she walked through their normal routine with me, and we discussed their needs and quirks. It was clear from the outset that she was very knowledgeable about animals and had a true passion for them and their wellbeing. A trait that even my malamute, Cooper picked up on from the outset, as he came in for cuddles and to say hello, when usually he would be viewing from afar.
Since that first trip there has been no looking back, Suzie has handled a couple of vet & weather emergencies while I have been travelling admirably, keeping me informed of what has happened and how it is being handled, allowing me to be completely at ease that things are under control. The dogs love her, I swear sometimes they look disappointed that I am home and play time with Aunty Suzie is over. J I seriously would never consider using kennels again, allowing your pets to keep their normal routine and be in their own environment is far better for them, and through the process we have all gained a true friend in Suzie.

I wanted to take a minute to THANK YOU for taking such good care of Mackie!!! Being so busy here at work and Brian traveling so much, it really helped me get through the day ‘at peace’ knowing that my boy was getting some love and attention throughout the day. He is always much more content when I come home on the days that you guys come to visit!!!

I am like most people, and lead a very busy life, which includes some travel. In the past my choices were to leave my boys in big kennels with a bunch of un known dogs, where they would stay locked up all day and night, or give the keys to my house to someone I didn’t know, and hope that they would show up. Both scenarios stressed the boys out a lot, and of course me too. Then I found August Animal Care, and everything has changed! I have no concern or fear that the basics will be met, and further, Suzie take great care of these guys, with attention, walks, and cheerful attitudes. I come home and the boys seem very happy and healthy. It is so nice to have this service, and to be able to take one big question mark out of my life.

Buster “the dog” has been part of our lives for over 12 years. We have loved him, taken care of him… but because he is an inside dog, he did not get much socialization. It became difficult to board him as he did not do well in those situations. A neighbor recommended August Animal Care. Suzie has been wonderful. Buster was able to stay in his home environment with Suzie checking in on him during the day, spoiling him with walks and much more. At night, Suzie was here to make sure Buster was well taken care of, even indulging him with doggie massages (which he thoroughly enjoyed!). She called/emailed everyday to let us know how things were going. This helped ease our minds and let us focus on our vacation without worrying about Buster. When we got home, Buster was relaxed and my house looked well taken care of. Suzie loves animals, is professional, and very trustworthy. We highly recommend Suzie and were so fortunate to have found August Animal Care.
P.S. – The only letdown was that Buster missed his massages once Suzie was gone.

This letter is to compliment and recommend Suzie Riley as a pet caregiver. We had the pleasure of having Suzie take care of our 14-year-old whippet, Newton, on the days we both worked. Suzie was great with our dog. She was very attentive, loving and kind. I had a neighbor comment on how sweet and caring Suzie was with Newton as she took him on his walks. We have the utmost trust in her with our pet and in our home. She always left a note telling us how Newton did on his walks. I highly recommend Suzie for anyone needing pet care.

Regarding Suzie, I think she did a great job with my animals. She told me she loves horses, but wasn’t raised with them, so she’s in a learning mode. From what I gather she has been doing some intense training with Debb and learning quickly. I have seen no evidence that she has any problems, the animals are happy, clean and unconcerned that I was gone, so I feel she is doing well. Please feel free to send her to help at my house anytime!
